Griffith Creative Show 2022 Returns in Person Launching on June 9th

Griffith College Dublin’s annual Creative Show officially opened on June 9th, returning to the South Circular Road campus for the first time in two years.

This year's show featured the work of creative and bright students from Fashion Design, Film & TV Production, Graphic Communication Design, Interior Architecture and Design, Interactive Digital Media, and Photographic Media.

Deirdre Doherty, Head of Design at Griffith College said, “The Creative Show is the highlight of our academic year for the Design Faculty. Staff and learners are delighted to be able to exhibit the best of our students work on campus after a hiatus of two years! We have planned an evening of celebration to launch over 50 of our newest Design Talent into the industry. This year the Design Faculty learners work is bigger brighter and bolder than ever, from Fashion Design, Graphic design, Interior Architecture and Interior Design.

We were joined in the evening by design industry guests:

Dominic Southgate - President of the Institute of Designers in Ireland, a membership association of Irish designers who promote and advocate for Irish design. Dominic Southgate is the founder and owner of Boxclever, a Dublin based Industrial Design consultancy specialising in industrial and professional products. With twenty-five years in a consulting environment working across sectors such as medical devices, automotive and IOT, Dominic specialises in the interface between design and production and using design thinking to enable and transfer sectoral design, process and production knowledge between industries.

Eddie Shanahan - Chair of Council of Irish Fashion Designers, member of National Design Forum, former Board member Leitrim Design House (10 years) and former Board member Design & Crafts Council Ireland (4 years). Specialises in business and product development for the fashion, craft and retail sectors.”

Tanya Doyle, Head of Creative Arts and Screen Media exclaimed, “Alongside the cast and crew screening we held in the Lighthouse Cinema on June 8th , we are delighted also to screen four short films made by our final year Film students. It is wonderful to be able to show the high standard of work and allow audiences to experience them as a collective real-world experience again. Visitors can also watch final year films from 2020 and 2021 at the Creative Show. On top of that we have short documentaries made by students from Film and TV Production, Journalism and Communications and Media Production and Photography programmes available to view”.

With Sinead Murphy, Programme Director of Photography adding, “We are immensely proud of the class of 2022 and all that they have achieved throughout their degree particularly during challenging times. As creatives, we have to problem solve, our students met the challenges of making work during lockdowns, their adaptability will stand to them. This year we are delighted to showcase the graduate work in-person, genres on display by the final year photography students include documentary, fine art, commercial, fashion, macro, infrared and street photography.

Visitors can browse the full body of work in the students' self-published books, zines and portfolios and marvel at films and documentaries our students have created”.

Griffith College Dublin are delighted to have Frank Abruzzese opening the photography exhibition. Abruzzese is a visual artist and educator, he is the Co-director of Cow House Studios in Wexford. Frank received the Emerging Photographer of the Year award from San Francisco Magazine. Frank's photographic work has been exhibited internationally in galleries and universities.

  • Friday, 10th June – 12pm to 6pm (Computing exhibit closed)
  • Saturday, 11th June – 12pm to 6pm
  • Sunday, 12th June – 12pm to 6pm
  • Monday, 13th June – 12pm to 6pm
  • Tuesday, 14th June – 12pm to 6pm (Design Faculty exhibits ends)
  • Wednesday, 15th June – 12pm to 6pm (Photography and Film only)
  • Thursday, 16th June – 12pm to 6pm (Photography and Film exhibit ends)
