Photography Graduates Work with Today FM.

Pictured from left to right is Tracy Cripps, Kieran O'Donoghue, Zoe Mc Govern, Jenny Kelly, Sinead Murphy, Ray D'Arcy and Brendan Maher.
Back in 2005 the Ray D'Arcy show asked their listeners to take photos on a day in October and submit them for selection for a book called "US", it was a huge success and helped to raise €300,000 for Childline.
Five years one they decided to do a second book, "US 2", the day in question was October 2nd. The idea is to collate a visual representation of Ireland today as we see ourselves, a day in the life of Us as it were. They asked for captions and had many stories to follow up on.
To help with the mammouth task of editing the images for selection, myself and 5 of the soon to be graduates on the photography programme, got stuck into the photographs, all 21,000 of them....We finished ahead of schedule and edited the shots down to just over 3,000, bleary eyed but happy.
The current edit is being worked on now by the graphic designer, the book will go to print in a few weeks and is due out in the book stores at the beginning of December. All proceeds from US 2 will benefit Barnardos.

It was a pleasure working with the photographers who made a great production team and worked very hard on the project, they certainly made a great impression with everyone in Todayfm.
We got lots of plugs on the wireless as a result and even today the college and the graduates got another mention on the show.
Our graduates will be credited in the book which is of incredible value to them.
I'll follow up with a date that the book is available in a few weeks. They are doing a print run of 30,000 and already 15,000 have been sold, as there is a sale or no return policy on the publication. (€18)
