Diploma in Media Techniques graduate Risteard Ó Domhnaill wins at the Best Feature Documentary for his film The Pipe.

Congratulations to Risteard Ó Domhnaill(Richie O'Donnell) for winning The Best Feature Documentary at the 2010 Galway Film Fleadh for his film The Pipe. Risteard is a graduated from Griffith College in 2004 with a Diploma in Media Techniques(TV & Video). The faculty of Journalism and Media Communications congratulate Risteard on this achievement and wish him further success in the future.

The Pipe tells the story of the people of Rossport in the West of Ireland and the efforts of the Shell oil company to lay a pipeline through their community. The discovery of gas off this remote coastal village has led to the most dramatic clash of cultures in modern Ireland. The rights of farmers over their fields, and of fishermen to their fishing grounds, have come into direct conflict with one of the world’s most powerful oil companies.

The Pipe directed by Risteard Ó Domhnaill & produced Rachel Lysaght & Risteard Ó Domhnaill.
