Griffith College Students' Union is the representative body for students within the College. As the largest independent College in Ireland, its primary role is to represent its members' views and defend their interests both internal and external to the college. All students are actively encouraged to become involved in the Students' Union so that they can directly influence and assist the Students' Union during the year. The SU provides advice on welfare, health, accommodation, financial and academic matters in an effort to help students adjust to college life.
The Students' Union Executive is elected by the college students annually to serve a one-year term as a sabbatical officer. The President is the highest position as the Chief Student Representative with overall responsibility. He is assisted by a Communications Officer who is editor of the college magazine and a Clubs and Societies Officer. The communications Officer also acts as Vice Presidents of the Students' Union. In addition to this, the Student Development Officer/SU Manager assists the officers in their roles as well as helping students settle into college. This person is not elected.
