-
Following the great success of last year's inaugural Inspirational Arts Photography Award - which was held in conjunction with I.A.D.T - they decided to widen the award this year to include D.I.T and Griffith College.
The award open to all BA (Photography) students graduating this year. Once again artist Sean Hillen has kindly agreed to take on the difficult task of judging the entries at each of the Graduate shows. One student will be selected from each of the colleges to go forward to the final stage, a group show in the Inspirational Arts Gallery.
Sean Hillen will announce the winner on the opening night of the shows (Culture Night, Friday 23rd September 2011). This will be a busy night in the city andwith the hope of maximizing exposure for the Graduates' work. The show will run for four weeks.
The award is intended to provide encouragement for emerging photographic artists. First Prize, valued at €1000, consists of €500 cash towards the winner's next project, plus printing at Inspirational Arts to the value of €500. The winner will also be invited to have a solo exhibition in our gallery in 2012.
Congratulations to Steven Doyle who was the winner going foreward from Griffith College for his series "Time Served"
Highly Commended for the Inspirational Arts awards were Tom Morgan for "Danbo's Ponderings" and "The Paint Pot" by Dylan Madden
