Fiona O'Riordan

Fiona is Programme Director for the Special Purpose Training and Education Programme and will be Programme Director for the Postgraduate Diploma in Arts in Training and Education. She has spearheaded the advancement of the College’s Centre for Promoting Academic Excellence, achieving active engagement by lecturers in their development and skills improvement. She advises on the selection and alignment of appropriate teaching methods to support effective learning. In addition Fiona plays a key role on all new programme development and programme reviews. Her contributions are primarily in designing programme schedules; writing programme and module outcomes at appropriate levels and across all strands and sub-strands and finally in alignment of teaching and assessment activities with programme and module outcomes. Angela has been a lecturer in Griffith College for the past sixteen years. She has lectured extensively in a range of subjects across faculties.
Her main areas are economics, quantitative methods, statistics and taxation.
Angela is currently pursuing a doctorate in education and hopes to graduate in 2014.
Angela also lecturers and provides support to Fiona in the Centre for Academic Excellence.
Angela has been involved with the validation of many of the programmescurrently being provided in Griffith CollegeQualifications

Kay is Development Manager at the Leinster School of Music & Drama (LSMD) which is a constituent school of Griffith College. She is Programme Director for the Higher Diplomas in Arts in Music Education and Drama Education, having guided the development of these programmes through validation and implementation. She lectures on a number of modules on these programmes and is the principal teaching practice tutor for music.
In her role as Development Manager, she reviews and designs the curriculum for the LSMD Examinations Board; and provides in-service and support to LSMD practitioners throughout the country in the implementation of new syllabi.
She has worked on the Post-Graduate Certificate in Education and Training, facilitating tutor observations, and as a deputy lecturer in the area of Pedagogical Practice.

Orla graduated from Dublin Institute of Technology with an MA in Media Studies in 2007 having previously graduated from UCD in 2003 with a BA (Hons) in Sociology and Library and Information Studies. With an interest in education, she has a number of years' experience working in the third level sector, and has been working in the Computing Science faculty since 2004. Her teaching interests are in the area of sociological theory specialising in media analysis and the impact of new technologies on society. Orla has a keen interest in working with diverse groups and widening access and increasing participation for all in third level education.
Orla is based in the Computing Science department at Griffith College Dublin. In her role as Faculty Administrator she deals with managing the support structures that aid students in getting the most from their college experience. Within this role, Orla also offers a career and guidance support as well as providing a framework of pastoral care for the many international and exchange student enrolled on programmes within the faculty.Qualifications

Yvonne Farrell is a self-employed business Consultant in the areas of HR, Learning and Development and Executive and Business Coaching. She has Consultancy, Multinational and Public Service experience. Yvonne works with Boards, senior teams, unions, staff, in partnership with HR, to assist and provide guidance in human and process improvement, organisational change, employee engagement, leadership, and employee learning and development. Sarah is a music performance graduate of TCD and TCM London, where she was awarded a scholarship to complete an M.Mus. under the tuition of acclaimed violinist Hu Kun. Sarah was funded by the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences to carry out research for her PhD on peak experience and optimal performance states in music performance. The research investigates student and professional musicians’ experiences of performance and peak experience, the strategies that professional musicians use to enhance their performance, motivation to perform and practise music, and the employment of intervention programs to enhance performance experience.
Along with developing her research interests and preparing publications, Sarah is currently working as a performance psychology consultant for student and professional musicians and teaches psychology in Griffith College Dublin and Trinity College Dublin.Qualifications

Tricia is a lecturer on the Interior Architecture and Interior Design courses. She lectures in CAD and Furniture and Fittings. She has contributed to the course by bringing new ideas such as student ePortfolios, interactive class quizzes, forum platforms and other strategies to enhance student engagement and learning. She hopes to further develop these approaches through her current studies in the area of technology enhanced learning.Tricia was involved in designing modules and taking part in panel meetings as part of the HETAC review of the courses mentioned above.
Tricia has recently been appointed as an External Examiner for the B Sc in Furniture and Manufacture Degree (Level 7) at The Furniture College, GMIT at Letterfrack.Qualifications

Jane is research active and has worked in various research roles and on a range of projects developing expertise in education and health research. Her research has included both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Recently she has worked on LLL2010, a European Lifelong Learning project and was the Irish National Co-ordinator for Subproject 3, which surveyed 1,000 adult learners from across the educational spectrum; from learners in basic education to those undertaking degrees. While working with Royal College of Surgeons she was involved in an evaluation project of a new consultation style involving GP's, members of the Primary Care team and their patients in a disadvantaged area in Dublin. Jane has also lectured in on a wide range of subjects such as writing skills, research methods, media research and cultural studies at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Her years of teaching and of developing and designing courses demonstrate an ability to teach effectively, to contribute to the administrative requirements, to write reports and to support both students and colleagues
Her doctorate uses a life history methodology and her research interests include educational disadvantage, health inequalities, penal reform and the effect of state policies on the lives of individuals.Qualifications

Robert is Head Librarian of Griffith College running the library in GCD and managing the information needs of a diverse group of academics, professionals, and learners dispersed throughout Ireland and internationally. He has been involved in the construction and usage of ICT for learning in Griffith since the early days of the web. In addition he provides academic support for learners in desk research, writing, and in particular critical assessment of information sources. Robert has been involved with the Centre for Academic Excellence in Griffith since his inception hosting seminars and workshops for lecturers on technology in the classroom, databases, the use of VLEs among other topics. We have sought to try new developments and approaches in these seminars and throughout the functions of the Centre.
Robert, in his role as Head Librarian, is involved in all new programme development seeking to ensure that learners and lecturers have access to the best information resources. The library also supports classroom and learning technology and considers education and responsiveness to learners needs to be the cornerstones of its philosophy.Qualifications
