Richard McHugh - Head of Business and Programme Development
Richard is Head of Business and Programme Development at Griffith Institute of Language. He has over 10 years experience teaching and managing in English language education. He has taught both in Italy and Ireland and specialises in academic writing and programme design. He holds a Masters in Education specialising in the areas of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages Worldwide (TESOLW), Programme Design and Online and Distance Education.
Sean O’Sullivan – Academic Director
Sean is the Academic Director of Griffith Institute of Language. He has over 18 years teaching and managing in English language education. He has taught extensively in the Middle- East, the UK and Ireland and specialises in English for Academic Purposes. Sean has been managing the English Language Department in Griffith since 2001. He holds an MA in History and a Higher Diploma in Education.
Jenny O’Rourke – Teacher
Jenny has been a teacher with Griffith for over 6 years. She has taught General, Academic and Examination Preparation classes specialising in programme development in business English, and conversation skills development. She also spent a year in China teaching in one of our partner Universities in Hunan. Jenny holds a BA in Business and Marketing, Graduateship with the Marketing Institute of Ireland and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). She is currently undertaking a Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education and Training.
Mathias Maunsell – Teacher
Matthias has been in Griffith College since 2009 and involved in English language teaching for over 15 years. He has worked extensively in Ireland, Mexico and Spain and has substantial experience in management, testing and assessment, programme development and teaching on a range of English program types including English for Speakers fo other Languages, English for Academic Purposes, and English for Specific Purposes. He majored in Spanish in TCD and also studied at the University of Granada, Spain. He holds a Graduate Diploma in TEFL from the University of Limerick and an M.Phil in Applied Linguistics from TCD He is currently doing PhD research in Applied Linguistics in TCD. His principal research interests relate to bi/multilingualism, psycholinguistics, specific learning difficulties & language pedagogy. He is a member of both Irish & British Associations for Applied Linguistics.
Laura Flynn – Teacher
Laura has over 9 years experience teaching English to international learners. She started at GCD in September 2006 and teaches General English, Business and English for Academic Purposes and examination preparation. She specialises in study skills and conversational skills development. Laura holds a BAI in German and Sociology, a TEFL certificate and a Diploma in Teaching and Education. She is currently undertaking a Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education and Training
Bradley Gillis – Teacher
Bradley has been teaching language, literature, film and music for over fifteen years. He speaks four languages and has taught advanced English, Spanish and Portuguese courses in six different countries. (USA, Brazil, Venezuela, Chile, Spain, Ireland) He has been at Griffith for over four years and specializes in English for Academic Purposes. Bradley holds a Certificate in TESOL, a Minor in Spanish Language and education and a BA in Film and Production from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
David Graham – Teacher
David has been an English language teacher for over 5 years, and has been a teacher at Griffith for three of those. He teaches general English, Exam preparation, prior to teaching David was a freelance journalist and he harnesses his experience in this area to develop learners skills in a variety of writing genres including, report writing, hard news stories and feature writing. He holds a degree in Journalism, a CELTA teaching qualification and is currently undertaking a degree in English Literature.
Piotr Sznyter – Teacher
Piotr joined Griffith in 2009. He has been an English language teacher for over 8 years He teaches General English, Examination Preparation, and Academic English. He specialises in the application of functional grammar and has a passion for English that makes learners excited and interested in learning. Piotr holds an MA in English (cognitive linguistics) and a Certificate in language teaching methodology. He is also a trained translator and interpreter.
