Concert and workshop reminder.
We are happy to announce details of the LSMD Excellence Awards being held on Thursday 28th October at 2pm here in the Griffith College Auditorium. If you have a student who was nominated last year (09-10) and would like to attend and take part in the concert please email me with their details, I will try to arrange for them to perform on the day (places are limited) and they will be presented their certificate while they are here! We have arranged for an accompanist to be available for the singing students - anyone requiring the accompanist is asked to forward a copy of the music in advance so that she can review it before Wednesday 20th October. Please email me with the student's name, their piece and the number of guests they would like to bring along to help celebrate their achievement.
Drama
Teachers and students are also reminded that the next drama workshop will be held on Sunday 17th October, with Ide Mc Sweeney from 11am-4pm. The price for a place at each workshop is €80 for LSMD Teachers, €60 for students and €100 for all others wishing to attend. Students on the 3 GCD courses; Higher Diploma in Arts in Drama Education course & 40 credits Cert in Drama Teaching/Licentiate Diploma & 20 credits Cert in Drama Performance/Associate Diploma course are invited to attend this workshop as part of their college course for free. Please email me to register for your place on this workshop.
Piano
The new piano grade syllabus will be emailed to teachers in the coming weeks, this along with a teachers manual supporting the new syllabus will be issued to teachers. A workshop to coincide with this new syllabus will be held by Margaret Butler on Sunday 7th November here in Griffith College Dublin. Students on the 3 GCD courses; Higher Diploma in Arts in Music Education course & 40 credits Cert in Music Teaching/Licentiate Diploma & 20 credits Cert in Music Teaching/Associate diploma course are invited to attend this workshop as part of their college course for free. Further details of these workshops are listed below.
On a final note, our thoughts and prayers are with Sheila Murphy who is in St Vincent's hospital in Dublin at the moment, we send her every best wish. Sheila's name appears on thousands of certs all over Ireland and anyone who has met her knows of her contribution to, and her love for, the Leinster School of Music & Drama spanning decades.
