Many people feel uncomfortable when speaking in public or addressing large groups. Griffith College Dublin has developed an Effective Speaking course to assist people in overcoming many of the common fears of public speaking. Our carefully planned workshops will provide participants with the skills to present and speak in public with confidence.

Participants will be encouraged to explore their own unique style and to develop techniques that will enable them to make an impact when speaking to an audience.

This is a practical course and participants are given every opportunity to improve their performance skills and eliminate any unhelpful habits. They will be guided on how to engage with an audience effectively, ease unnecessary tension and present with flair and confidence.

• Poise and Balance

• Breath Control

The Voice - Sound and Sense

• Range and Resonance

• Articulation

• Vocal expression and modulation

The Speech - Planning and Organisation

• How to chose appropriate vocabulary for various situations

• How to deal with notes and use visual aids effectively

• How to introduce a guest speaker and handle questions

• How to dress appropriately for different occasions.

Upon completion, this programme is the perfect foundation for participants who wish to progress in the workplace. Successful applicants may also elect to pursue further studies in this area in the Project Management Professional (PMP) programme

To apply you can simply complete the registration form and return back to us before the course commences, if you are applying to the college as a mature student (over 23) you will be offered a place on the course based on your maturity. If you are under 23 you will need to send me a copy of your leaving cert results with your application form.
